Engineering Quantum Matter Workshop June 2016

This workshop was held at the Byre Theatre, St Andrews from 8th-10th June 2016. Over 100 delegates attended, including world-leading scientists working in the areas of quantum materials, topologically-protected states and quantum computation. Funding was awarded to Dr Peter Wahl by the IMPP, mainly covering travel expenses and accommodation for speakers and catering costs. Invited speakers included Dr Eva Benckiser from the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research in Stuttgart, Germany.
We have witnessed for the past years a leap forward in the understanding of numerous quantum phenomena such as entanglement, correlation effects and non-equilibrium physics. The next great challenge is to control of these quantum states in order to design and exploit them for future technologies. The aim of this workshop is to bring together leaders in the field to focus on this next great challenge and to establish consensus of what the future milestones should be for engineering novel quantum states.
